Geriatric nursing assistants, also known as geriatric aides, work directly to supply care to elderly patients. Geriatric nursing assistants often work in long-term care facilities and nursing homes, but they may also work in hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, or in patient’s homes. They provide routine individualised healthcare to the elderly, at the patient’s home. Monitor or report changes in health status. Provide personal care such as bathing, dressing, and grooming of patient. This job requires the individual to work in collaboration with patient care providers and other healthcare providers. The individual should also be able to demonstrate basic patient care skills, communication skills and ethical behaviour.
